Rewind to March 2020 and Bettina Muchmore and her sister Philippa Cassar (now Naudi) of The New Victorians were working on their latest theatre production Publico, with a cast of local and foreign actors and musicians at the Manoel Theatre.
“Two weeks before the show opened, at the peak of rehearsals, we received a call telling us, ‘You have to go home. The show is cancelled’,” Bettina recalled.
This was to be a more exclusive, experiential show in which the audience were being put on the Manoel stage.
“The week before they had cancelled shows of 1,000-people capacity but, since we only had an audience of 200, we thought we might get away with it,” she continued.

Destiny will be up 6th on the Eurovision stage tonight as she tries to woo European (and Australian) audiences to vote for her.
The transmission from the Netherlands starts at 9pm and will see 26 acts performing on stage until the nail-biting voting finale from Europe’s capitals.
It will provide ample time for eating, drinking, sharing jokes and memes, admiring the singers and the songs, or taking the micky out of the kitsch fest.
Who is Destiny Chukunyere?
Destiny is the daughter of former Nigeria striker Ndubisi Chukunyere who played just one game for the Super Eagles during a friendly match against Egypt in 2002.
The 18-year-old music talent was born in Birkirkara and she holds the nationality of her mother, Maltese.
Destiny’s recent exploits in Eurovision have seen Malta Primer Minister Robert Abela and the leader of the country s main opposition Bernard Grech unite to cheer her on to victory.
How did Destiny’s music career start off?
The 18-year-old s music career has grown from strength to strength since she won the 2015 Junior Eurovision Song Contest at the age of 13.
