Ahmir Questlove Thompson Celebrates Summer of Soul s Box Office Buzz With DJ Set at the Greek Theatre

FacebookTwitterEmail Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson transported audiences back to the late 1960s with a special screening of his new documentary, “Summer of Soul (…or, When the Revolution Could Not be Televised),” at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles on Friday night.
In its first two weeks in theaters, the musical movie about the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival (billed as “a Questlove jawn,” paying homage to the director’s Philly roots) has gone on to make more than $1 million at the box office, plus it’s become a streaming sensation on Hulu.

Oprah Winfrey have teamed up to create a new documentary series about the experience of Black women in America through the lens of Black hair. As described,
The Hair Tales will provide an intimate exploration of Black women, beauty and identity through the distinctive lens of Black hair.
“This series is about identity, culture and legacy, beauty, strength and joy,” Tracee Ellis Ross said.
