La Jolla Playhouse Announces Return to Live Theatre With World Premieres by Charlayne Woodard and More

La Jolla Playhouse has announced its return to live, in-person theatre with several exciting upcoming projects. This summer, the Playhouse will offer two on-site events: the Without Walls (WOW) production of A Thousand Ways (Part 2): An Encounter, by 600 Highwaymen, running June 3 - 20; and the 2021 DNA New Works Series, featuring readings of four new plays over the weekends of July 22 - 25 and July 29 - August 1. The Playhouse will also present a special Pop-Up WOW event featuring five short, Playhouse-commissioned Without Walls works, taking place August 14 - 15 at ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station. ....

Clemson climate expert says expect heat, flooding, mosquitoes. pollen


South Carolina has a century left with our peaches. 
That s how long thermal ecologist Mike Sears estimates it will take the weather to warm in the Palmetto State to make the climate uninhabitable for peach orchards.
All the crop bands are moving north as heat rises, the Clemson assistant professor said. 
By the end of the century, the Southeast United States is expected to have 100 more days of extreme heat per year, according to the 2018 National Climate Assessment, an annual report to Congress and the President. 
Not only is climate change happening, it s probably even worse than the scientists were saying, Sears said in reference to a global temperature report.  ....
