A teenage Australian snowboarder from a small coastal town has just beaten a world record that was held by an American legend for 11 years.
Valentino Guseli, 16, jumped 7.3 metres on the halfpipe at the Laax superpipe competition in Switzerland, easily beating the seven metres jumped by three-time Olympic gold medalist Shaun White in 2010.
He achieved the new world record mark the day before his 16th birthday.

Merry Christmas and if you are lucky enough to be somewhere snowy in the Northern Hemisphere, we hope you’re getting in a few Chrissy day turns. Not long to go before we say goodbye (or good riddance) to 2020 and it looks like there will be plenty of powder to wrap up the year with snow on the way in Japan, Europe, Canada and the US.
