Pat Roberts is joining
Capitol Counsel as a partner, making the longtime Ag Committee chair the latest former pol to go through the revolving door since leaving Congress last month. Roberts, who was first elected to the House in 1981 before winning election to the Senate in 1997, is the longest-serving member of Congress from Kansas. Roberts helped shepherd multiple farm bills through Congress, most recently in 2018, and also served on the Finance, HELP, Ethics and Rules committees. ....

Trump's Slovenia Ambassador Lynda Blanchard jumps into Alabama Senate race

Blanchard is the first Republican to officially jump into what is expected to be a crowded GOP primary in the race to fill the solidly red seat that Shelby has held since 1987. In a nearly three-minute-long video announcing her campaign, Blanchard cast herself as an outsider and fierce defender of former President Trump.
“I’m a Christian conservative and business builder, a mother of eight wonderful children. I’m a proud member of the MAGA movement. Like you, I’m grateful for the leadership and courage of our 45th president, Donald Trump,” she said over video of her driving a truck emblazoned with a Trump campaign sticker. “Today, I begin a new journey: a bid to earn your trust and your vote to serve as the next United States senator from our great state.” ....

Mo Brooks expresses interest in running for Shelby's Senate seat

Brooks, a key ally of former President Trump
But Brooks said the criticisms he’s faced have helped raise his profile and could help him in a primary race.

I am running for election in 2022, either for my House seat or for the Alabama Senate seat,” Brooks said in a statement.
“Quite frankly, the last three months of scurrilous and palpable false attacks on me by Socialist Democrats and their fake news media allies have been a wonderful blessing because they have sent my state-wide name I.D. and Republican primary support through the roof.”
Brooks has been a staunch supporter of Trump, which some argue will give him a boost in the deep-red state. He unsuccessfully ran for the upper chamber during a special election in 2017, where he ultimately finished third in the primary. But Brooks supporters feel his odds are stronger this cycle. ....

MIDLAND, Texas August Pfluger was in Midland Thursday for a special occasion-he has now officially been sworn in as the representative for District 11 in Texas.
The ceremony took place at the Bush U.S. Courthouse with a reception after.
Pfluger was elected into the position after Mike Conaway announced his decision to retire from Congress in 2019.
The congressman also made comments on the state of the oil and gas industry as Governor Greg Abbott visited Odessa for a special roundtable focused on the economy. ....
