Lloyd Herbert Ames, 84, of Columbia, Tennessee, formerly of Painesville, Ohio and Hartfield, New York, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 14, 2021. He passed peacefully from his earthly home on an afternoon spent with loved ones, including his nephew Dan H. Ames and his nephew’s wife Diane B. AmesÃ-an afternoon in which the hours were filled with Christian music; prayer; and words of love, support and encouragement.
Lloyd was born May 17, 1936 in Hartfield, New York to Herbert Dixon Ames and Edith Oleva Shepard Ames. He had one sister, Evelyn Oleva Ames Hotchkiss; and two brothers, Maurice Emerson Ames and Allan Garfield Ames. Lloyd was never married, but often spoke of “the one that got away.” ....

Construction is ongoing of the gazebo for the Chautauqua County Hometown Heroes Veterans Memorial in Mayville. The project has been years in the making and recently completed the first phase of its fundraising campaign.

MAYVILLE The village of Mayville is nearing closer and closer to the completion of its new Chautauqua County Hometown Heroes Veterans Memorial.
Construction of the project’s gazebo has continued at the front of the Mayville Cemetery despite recent winter weather, after slowing down during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Jim Kurtz, a former town of Chautauqua board member, has aided the project over the course of several years, and is hopeful that the first phase of construction will be completed this spring. ....

MAYVILLE Edwin S. Cannon, 91, of Mayville, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2020, at his home with family at his side.
He was born Jan. 14, 1929, in Jamestown, N.Y., the son of the late Edwin R. Cannon and Mildred Samson Cannon.
Ed grew up in Ellington, N.Y., and graduated from Falconer Central School, class of 1947. After graduation Ed moved to Detroit and worked at General Motors. Ed was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War while stationed in the Philippines before being honorably discharged. He returned home and worked for the New York State DOT in Mayville, where he worked on the sign crew and was a snow control dispatcher. ....
