Expansive Ridgeline development to abut community forest

CONWAY â One of the most expansive projects to come before the Conway Planning Board in years is Ridgeline Communities, being developed by Continuum Health Services of Lewiston, Maine, founded and owned by Joe Hogan of Standish, Maine.
Project manager Mike Black said his local team of engineers have been working closely over the past four years with Bayard Kennett of the Kennett Co. and town officials, including Town Planner Tom Irving and Town Engineer Paul DegliAngeli.
âWe are very excited about this project as we feel that we will be offering a lot to many different groups and ages, and meeting several needs in the valley for care and housing,â said Black. ....

Wheel Family Fun: Dundee Road Loop — climbing hills to get the views

New Hampshire springs are frustrating for cyclists. Some days, itâs too cold to muster riding enthusiasm. Blustery days blow away the desire. Rainy days dampen the cycling spirit. When a rare, warm sunny day arrives, itâs time to grab the bike and go ride!
Such a day happened last week. I had a meeting that morning at Story Land to plan this Saturdayâs Kidsâ Bike Safety Day, but my afternoon was free. Time to put my bike on the rack and take it with me.
I concocted a loop ride that would mix pavement and dirt. My ride focus was to see what was happening on Dundee Road and get some exercise. Land along Dundee Roadâs dirt section had recently been acquired by the Upper Saco Valley Land Trust in partnership with the Trust for Public Land. Their aim is to conserve ânearly 1,200 acres of forest rich with biodiversity, pristine streams and peaks offering stunning views.â ....

Jockey Cap to appear on Fryeburg town warrant

FRYEBURG, Maine â Fryeburg selectmen will be asking voters in June to allow the town to pursue acquiring 100 percent ownership of Jockey Cap from a resident and put it into conservation.
The 600-foot granite dome has an accessible trail and at the summit there is a memorial to Adm. Richard Peary, who once lived in Fryeburg in the late 19th century.
One can reach the top in under 20 minutes. Dollar General, located at 124 Bridgton Road, is located at the base now, though there used to be a motel there.
From the summit of Jockey Cap, you can see Lovewell Pond to the east, and Mount Chocorua to the west. ....
