Rupnagar (Punjab) [India], April 6 (ANI): A team of Uttar Pradesh Police on Tuesday left Punjab s Rupnagar jail with gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari, who is facing trial in several cases.
This comes days after the Supreme Court ordered the transfer of the BSP MLA from Punjab jail to UP jail within two weeks.
The team of UP police reached Rupnagar in the early hours of Tuesday morning to take custody of Ansari.
Earlier today, fearing for her husband s life, Ansari s wife, Afshan Ansari approached the top court seeking a direction to the UP Police to not kill her husband in a fake encounter and allow him to face a free and fair trial. ....

A team of over 80 Uttar Pradesh Police personnel equipped with sophisticated weapons and a company of the Provincial Armed Constabulary left from Banda on Monday morning to bring back Ansari from Punjab, a senior police official said.

A team of the Uttar Pradesh Police on Monday left for Punjab to bring back gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari, who faces trial in several cases in the state, officials said.
Punjab s home department in a letter had asked the Uttar Pradesh government to take custody of Ansari from the Rupnagar jail on or before April 8.
It had written to the Uttar Pradesh additional chief secretary (home) following a March 26 Supreme Court order that had directed the Punjab government to transfer the BSP s Mau MLA to UP s Banda jail in two weeks from the Rupnagar prison, where he has been since January 2019 in connection with an extortion case. ....

UP Police forms SIT to probe fake papers of ambulance that ferried Mukhtar Ansari to court | Lucknow News

BARABANKI: A special investigation team (SIT) has been set up by the Uttar Pradesh Police to further probe into the issue of fake documents of the ambulance which was used to ferry gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari from a Punjab jail to a Mohali court recently.
Barabanki Superintendent of Police Yamuna Prasad on Sunday said the SIT has been constituted under the additional superintendent of police (north).
Some members of the SIT, under the SHO of Haidargarh, have been sent to Punjab. Others have been sent to Mau (in Uttar Pradesh). They will deliberate on various points and will also speak to Dr Alka Rai, whose name was given for the registration of the ambulance. ....
