'Too much to bear' for most


PETALING JAYA: Students are worried that a resit is on the cards following news that the SPM History Paper 2 had been leaked.
A video purportedly showing leaked questions of Paper 2 of SPM History went viral after the exam for the subject was held.
Students who sat for the paper yesterday claimed that what was said in the video matched what appeared in the paper.
One of the candidates, who wanted to be known only as Cherry, said she dreaded the prospect of resitting the paper for a subject that was known to be tough.
“Most students are already facing a very hard time having had the SPM delayed for so long, and a lot of us stayed up all night just to cram all the information into our heads, ” said the Kedahan. ....

No textbooks in sight for kids

PETALING JAYA: The new school year has begun but there is a lack of school textbooks being sold in bookshops. Parents are frustrated as their children are facing difficulty following their lessons.
The problem is not new. It has been going on for several years. However, this year, the situation has been made worse as parents cannot travel beyond the 10km radius to buy the books from other districts due to the movement control order. ....

Educationists want organisations to help ensure that students' learning is not disrupted


THE year got off to a rocky start with students uncertain over when face-to-face lessons can resume in light of rising Covid-19 cases.
The Education Ministry had initially announced on Jan 11 that Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) students in the 2020 and 2021 cohorts – together with Sijil Vokasional Malaysia (SVM), Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia (SKM), Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM), Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STAM) and Diploma Vokasional Malaysia (DVM) – would return to schools, depending on whether they are under the movement control order, conditional MCO or recovery MCO states.
The decision was reversed in less than a week, on Jan 16, with the ministry announcing that only the 2020 batch of exam year students would be allowed to return for face-to-face studies. ....
