(WYDaily/ Courtesy of James City County Police Department) Three people were injured, one seriously, in a Wednesday afternoon crash in James City County involving an intoxicated driver, police said. At 3:53 p.m., officers were called to a four-vehicle crash in the intersection of Merrimac Tail and Penniman Road. The preliminary investigation revealed that Carrie Ann Yates, 41, of Quinton, had been at the Speedway convenience Store on 2nd Street in Williamsburg attempting to buy alcohol, James City County police said in a news release. The clerk denied the sale because Yates appeared to be intoxicated. As a result, Yates assaulted the clerk, police allege. Yates then left the store in a 2001 BMW driving east on Merrimac Trail at a high rate of speed. ....

Westbound traffic on Route 199 follow detour signage in place directing motorists to a new temporary median crossover to access the Route 199 east on-ramp to I-64 west during the closure. ....
