Wooton takes oath of office as newest state Supreme Court Justice


CHARLESTON – William R. “Bill” Wooton has been sworn into office for a 12-year-term on the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia.
The ceremony took place December 30. Wooton was elected June 9 to replace Justice Margaret Workman, who retires December 31. His term officially begins January 1.
“My aspiration as a Justice is to emulate the truly outstanding work of Justice Workman,” Wooton said. “It’s an honor to join the Court.”
The oath of office was delivered by Justice John Hutchison, a fellow Raleigh County native, who said Wooton is intelligent, easy to work with and dedicated.
“I am convinced that Bill will be a fantastic addition to the court,” Hutchison said. ....

Wooton to be sworn in as newest state Supreme Court Justice on December 30


CHARLESTON – William R. “Bill” Wooton will be sworn in December 30 as a West Virginia Supreme Court Justice.
The ceremony is scheduled for 2 p.m. in the Supreme Court chambers at the state Capitol. Although invitations were previously extended, because of the COVID Pandemic, the ceremony will now be held virtually by webcast. To protect the health and safety of everyone involved, the public and previously invited guests will not be admitted to participate in person. Those previously invited may participate remotely by tuning in to the live webcast on the West Virginia Judiciary YouTube Channel. 
Wooton was elected June 9 to the seat being vacated by Justice Margaret Workman, who is retiring effective December 31. He is a native of Raleigh County and was educated in Raleigh County public schools.
