Lewis & Clark College to require students get the COVID vaccine


The Southwest Portland college will allow exemptions for students with medical or religious reasons.

PORTLAND, Ore. Since the onset of the pandemic, Lewis & Clark College has made it a priority to offer in-person classes to its thousands of students. 
Junior Rory Bialostosky says he has felt safe on the Southwest Portland campus.
I think everyone takes it seriously, he said. All the students. When you re in a building or walking outside, people have a mask on.
The international affairs major, who also sits on the West Linn City Council, says there is also plenty of social distancing in the Lewis & Clark classrooms.  ....

Pamplin Media Group - West Linn cop under investigation for racial harassment


West Linn police accused of racial harassment during arrest
Alex Juarez alleges officers harassed and humiliated him during December DUI arrest.
West Linn police have hired Portland attorney Michael Tom to look into allegations from a West Linn man who says he was racially harassed by police in December, according to Acting WLPD Chief Peter Mahuna.
The man, Alex Juarez, posted about the ordeal on Nextdoor in January and received a wide array of responses from neighbors.
WLPD contacted Juarez in early February and hired Tom, who specializes in workplace investigations, to look into the matter after learning about the social media discussion. Reached by the Tidings, Tom didn t answer any questions about the inquiry, saying he could not comment on an ongoing investigation. ....
