Updated: 1:10 PM MDT April 21, 2021 BOISE, Idaho Boise police say a male student who brought on knife onto the campus of a West Boise elementary school Wednesday morning has been taken into custody. Officers were called to Cecil Andrus Elementary School on N. Park Meadow Way around 9 a.m. after a student made threatening statements. School resource and patrol officers were able to quickly secure the scene. No students or staff were injured. BPD says one officer suffered a cut to the hand while taking the juvenile into custody. The student was not hurt and is receiving care at a local hospital. ....

In their Wednesday meeting, the Greater Boise Auditorium District heard from three local swimmers, Ryan Stratton, Jeff Erwin and Melanie Rubocki who proposed a new state of the art aquatic center. A trio of swim enthusiasts has banded together to build a swimming-pool center they say could meet the growing need for more pools in the Treasure Valley. The trio Ryan Stratton, whose father is a former president of USA Swimming; Jeff Erwin, the swimming coach at Boise High School; and Melanie Rubocki, the managing partner of the Perkins Coie law firm in Boise say they have already raised $1 million toward the project and scouted potential sites. ....

Wastewater samples from Boise, Eagle and Garden City reveal low levels of variants first detected in the United Kingdom and California, according to a news release from Boise-based Central District Health. The B.1.1.7 variant, first found in the UK, was detected in Boise s wastewater. A California variant was found in Boise-area wastewater, the release said. The City of Boise cannot precisely locate where COVID-19 samples originate. The city collects samples from its two water-renewal facilities one near Veterans Memorial Park, and one in West Boise as the wastewater comes into the facilities from the community as a whole, according to city spokesperson Seth Ogilvie. ....
