WEST GARDINER Kelli Kole was headed north Monday on the Maine Turnpike when she stopped for a break at the West Gardiner Service Plaza.
Next time Kole travels through West Gardiner on the long trip between between her mother’s house in Sebec and her own house in Darien, Connecticut, she will find a changed traffic pattern on the highway. ....

West Gardiner’s proposed spending plan increases as officials make plans for new equipment
The town s $1.27 million plan is up 6.4% from the scaled-back budget presented to voters at last July s Town Meeting, delayed by public health restrictions on gatherings.

WEST GARDINER In a return to the open Town Meeting format, residents in West Gardiner will gather April 10 to vote on a proposed spending plan for the town that’s 6.4% higher than what they approved last July.
The proposed $1.27 million spending plan includes requested funding for a new snowplow.
“About every seven years, we replace a plow truck,” said Gregory Couture, chairman of the Board of Selectmen. “This year, we’re replacing two that were bought in 2000 with a new one, and we’ll keep the other as an emergency backup.” ....

SALT LAKE CITY Local students have earned an Award of Excellence at Western Governors University College. The award is given to students who perform at a superior level in their coursework.

Over the weekend, the Maine Moose 18U team that plays out of Camden National Bank Ice Vault in Hallowell captured the United States Premier Hockey League 18U American Division title. The Moose defeated the Palmyra Black Knights 4-3 Sunday in York, Pennsylvania in the American final.
Two Lewiston-Auburn area connections were on the team, in Jacob Lewis of Auburn and Nate Marcotte of Sabattus. Lewis had an assist on Cameron Rizzo’s (West Gardiner) game-winning goal in the third period.
“We had a young team and coach (Matt) Lavallee does a good job with that group,” Maine Moose owner and Twin City Thunder co-owner Ben Gray said. “It’s a tough league and I was really impressed with how they went down and played really good hockey and came away with the championship.” ....
