As a youngster and teenager, Mike Schaefer often walked across the pedestrian suspension bridge at the foot of West Spruce Street, crossing over to First Avenue in Bankers Hill. When he walked across on Tuesday, however, he was shocked to see a “Do Not Enter” sign posted at the west end of the bridge but not the east end.
