Jefferson PD Responds To Property Damage Accident Monday Morning

No injuries but an estimated total of $8,000 in damages were reported from a Monday accident in Jefferson. The Jefferson Police Department responded to the scene in the 1000 block of West Wall Street at approximately 7:37 a.m. The initial investigation revealed Jerry Dennhardt of Jefferson was pulling out of a private drive in a 2011 GMC K2500 pickup, but he crossed over into the oncoming lane while doing so. He struck a 1994 Chevrolet C1500 truck, driven by Robert Knight of Jefferson. There was a reported $5,000 in damage to the Knight vehicle and $3,000 in damages to the Dennhardt truck. Previous Story

New downtown building could include drive-thru restaurant

April 18, 2021 A developer is looking to build a new four-unit retail building on West Wall Street at the corner of North High Street in downtown Janesville. Janesville Senior Planner Brian Schweigl says on Monday night the Plan Commission will consider a handful of items related to the project. Schweigl says one of the tenant space in the proposed building is anticipated to be occupied by a food service business so the applicant is seeking approval for a drive-thru. The site, which is currently a vacant lot is next to First Presbyterian Church and behind Crazy Joe’s Furniture.

Janesville declares winter weather emergency

City officials had asked residents to move their vehicles before 10 p.m. Thursday to avoid getting a parking ticket. Anyone who parked on the street during the winter weather emergency faced a $50 fine.

City of Janesville issues snow emergency for Saturday

JANESVILLE The city of Janesville has declared a winter weather emergency for Saturday as city plow crews prepare for what might be the first significant snowfall of the season. According to a release, a winter weather emergency in Janesville is in effect starting at 10 a.m. Saturday. Snow plowing was expected to be finished late Saturday evening. Forecasters say a band of weather could bring a wintry mix of 2 inches to 5 inches of snow, slush and ice through southern Wisconsin as rain turns to snow overnight Friday and into Saturday. The city is preparing for a citywide plowing operation, with city plow crews gearing up for possible snow and ice accumulations of up to 4 inches overnight.
