Credit union approaches 40K members in market Growing up on a Valley farm, Steve Hauschild tackled arduous jobs like clearing rocks from crop fields. Years later, he would clear the way for one of the nation’s largest credit unions to sprout in a new market. Five years ago this month, Hauschild was hired by Boeing Employees Credit Union as market leader and director of business lending in Eastern Washington, which was new territory for the financial cooperative with deep roots in the Puget Sound area. Since then, Hauschild has helped BECU establish three new branches and a home loan center in the greater Spokane area. The credit union also has a growing foothold in North Idaho. ....

In November, Spokane County Sheriff s Office Deputy Matt Gould was one of three recipients to be named as a First Responder of the Year, by the Kalispel Tribe of Indians during the West Plains Chamber of Commerce Best of the West awards gala. Spokane County Fire District 3 duty officer Robert Blom and Captain Ron Wood from Spokane County Fire District 10 were also honored as First Responders of the Year. Spokane County Sheriff s Office said that Deputy Gould has been a valued member of the department for over 19 years and is currently assigned to the Patrol Division. Former West Plains Chamber of Commerce executive director Toby Broemmeling has joined Champion Empire, a Spokane-based business coaching and consulting services firm. Broemmeling was named director of business development at Champion Empire, where he will oversee the organization’s strategic partnerships and establish long-term relationships with clients, according to a company release. He stepped down as executive director of the West Plains Chamber of Commerce in October after more than two years of leading the organization. “I was thankful for the opportunity to lead the Chamber and I’m proud of what we were able to accomplish,” Broemmeling said in a statement. “Today, I’m excited to join my skills and experiences with the Champion Empire team.” ....
