Farming women facilitated to get active in society

May 22, 2021 10:00 am Local development company, North, East and West Kerry Development (NEWKD), in partnership with Trakt Piastów of Wielka Polska (Greater Poland), launched the ‘Women Active in Society Transnational Development Programme’ on Tuesday last (May 18). The initiative aims to increase awareness and participation of women in the north, east and west Kerry area under three key themes: farming, local producing and business. The main focus of the project will be the sharing of experience and knowledge between women in Kerry and Poland, and how they can use this to benefit their own farm or enterprise. The women in farming sessions will look at women’s networks and participation in local and regional decision making. Increased networking and sharing of learning between women farmers in north, east and west Kerry and Wielka Polska (Greater Poland) will be facilitated.

Dingle farmers to train to develop region s culinary attributes

May 3, 2021 10:00 am Farmers; fishers; food and drink producers; and hospitality providers based on the Dingle peninsula /Corca Dhuibhne, are invited to sign up to a new training programme aimed at providing them with the knowledge and skills to further develop and exploit the culinary attributes of the region. ‘Developing a Sustainable Regional Food Branding Strategy’ for the Dingle peninsula/ Corca Dhuibhne starts on May 11, and consists of a series of modules over 2021/2022 which introduce participants to a group of expert trainers and inspirational guest speakers. A blend of presentations, interactive workshops and discussion clinics will cover a variety of topics including using local and regional ingredients; agri best practice; food tourism; branding; sustainability; marketing and social media.

Farmers, fishers, food and drink producers and hospitality providers on the Peninsula are being invited to sign up to an exciting new training programme aimed at providing them with the knowledge and skills to further develop and enhance the food and ingredients of the region.
