Tommie Rachel (Thurman) Graham, 78 years young, of Ooltewah, passed away on April 24, 2021, peacefully surrounded by loved ones.
Tommie was born on Nov. 29, to the proud parents, Thomas and Leli Thurman in 1942. She married Andy J. Graham on Feb. 19 who was the love of her life. She was owned and operated Tommie’s Hair Care Centre for 32 years and honestly loved every minute of it. She was so passionate about people and their hair was her vehicle in to work with them to ensure that they were living the best life possible. She was an active member and president of the Chattanooga Cosmetologist Association. She was also heavily involved with the American Business Women Association where she held every position and always championed the scholarship program to help young girls attend college where without the support it might not have been possible. Clement Lee Counts III, Ph.D., also known as “That Clam and Snail Guy,” “Dude,” “Doc,” and “Daddy,” 74, of Salisbury, Md., passed away Thursday, Dec. 24, 2020, at Tidalhealth Peninsula Regional Medical Center surrounded by loving family. He was a man who lived a life of scholarship, learning, exploration and teaching.
Born in Huntington, W.Va., Oct. 3, 1946, Clem graduated from Chesapeake High School, Chesapeake, Ohio, in 1965, and briefly studied fine arts at Ohio University. He later attended Marshall University where he developed a lifelong passion for science. He graduated with a B.A. in zoology and a chemistry minor, and was elected to Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Society, and Chi Beta Phi, the National Scientific Honorary Fraternity. Having discovered he loved college, he decided never to leave, earning his M.S. in biological sciences from Marshall University under Dr. Ralph W. Taylor, and his Ph.D. from the Univers ....
