Waterville Creates! appoints Shannon Haines president, CEO
Haines has led the Maine Film Center, the Maine International Film Festival and Waterville Main Street to successes in the city, officials said.

WATERVILLE Shannon Haines, who has for many years championed the arts, film, culture and economic development in the city, has been appointed the new president and chief executive officer of Waterville Creates!
Haines, 40, of Waterville, starts the job Oct. 1 and will be based at The Center at 93 Main St. downtown. A nonprofit organization funded by foundation grants, Waterville Creates! promotes arts and culture in Waterville and focuses on providing marketing, advertising and program support for its five core partners the Maine Film Center, the Waterville Opera House, Waterville Public Library, Waterville Main Street and the Colby College Museum of Art.

The Outbreak Project exhibition, the fine arts component of the wider collaborative Outbreak Project and Plunkett Poetry Festival, explores this year’s academic theme “Outbreak” through the visual arts and will be on display Tuesday, April 6, through Friday, April 30, at the Charles Danforth Gallery at the University of Maine at Augusta. The exhibition, selected by a jury of art leaders drawn from community arts organizations and the University of Maine System, draws from works submitted through an open submission process for the show.
The exhibition will circulate, conceptually and physically, around an installation and performance work by Maine artist and UMA lecturer Patricia Brace. Brace’s work, “Stage” will be a constructed plywood cubic space installed within the recessed center of the Danforth Gallery. WXIA, better known as “11Alive,” is an NBC affiliate.
“I’m incredibly honored to join the investigative team at 11Alive,” Crowley said in a news release shared Wednesday with the Rockford Register Star. “Their unrelenting work to find justice and truth is what journalism is all about, and it’s exactly what I want to be a part of.”
Crowley’s final day on air in Rockford will be March 31.
In joining the investigative team at 11Alive, Crowley will contribute to The Reveal, the station’s award-winning weekly show that focuses on equality and justice issues along with watchdog journalism.
