Caltrans, SANDAG Host Virtual Groundbreaking for SR-125, SR-905 Connector Project

“As we finish the last leg of the SR-125/SR-905 connectors when complete, this project will provide the necessary connections throughout the county, for goods movement; it’ll enhance our relationship with Mexico, and it’ll provide new choices for binational travelers, for cross-border activities, such as work, family and vacation,” said SANDAG Chair and Poway Mayor Steve Vaus.
Dallarda and Vaus were virtually joined by Chula Vista Mayor Mary Salas and San Diego City Councilmember Vivian Moreno for the livestream event, which began at 9:45 a.m. Thursday.

OCEANSIDE, Calif. Latinas are bearing a disproportionately high burden from the COVID-19 pandemic in San Diego County, a local nonprofit and Latina elected officials said Tuesday as they shared data from the San Diego Association of Governments.
According to Latina-focused nonprofit MANA de San Diego, this comes as Latino households already had lower pre-pandemic wages, less access to health care and job-related benefits. Latinas in particular have faced increased job losses and threats of economic insecurity, they said. ....

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) â Several Latina community leaders, including some elected officials, met virtually Tuesday to show how much the COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way of life for San Diego Countyâs Latina population.
Among panelists was National City Mayor Alejandra Sotelo-Solis, who said the coronavirus has hit her city in many ways. Solis pointed out that many that are affected are working class families, where the average income is about $41,000 for a family of four. ....

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Latinas are bearing a disproportionately high burden from the COVID-19 pandemic in San Diego County, a local nonprofit and Latina elected officials said today as they shared data from the San Diego Association of Governments.
According to Latina-focused nonprofit MANA de San Diego, this comes as Latino households already had lower pre-pandemic wages, less access to health care and job-related benefits. Latinas in particular have faced increased job losses and threats of economic insecurity, they said.
Chula Vista Mayor Mary Salas, a member of SANDAG s Board of Directors, shared that while Latinas comprise around 17% of the county s population, around 60% of that population is working in the three industries most impacted by job loss during the pandemic tourism, retail and education.
