Alzheimer society virtual walk raises $42,000 in Chatham-Kent

While it didn’t reach its goal this year, the Alzheimer Society of Chatham-Kent’s virtual walk surpassed last year’s fundraiser with over $42,000 collected from donors.
This is a 22 per cent increase over last year’s IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s, a news release from the society said. The goal was to raise $50,000.

“ASCK attributes this fundraising increase to many factors, one of them being the introduction of the Forget-Me-Not Scavenger Hunt.,” the release said. “This new event was in support of the virtual walk, allowing ASCK to offer something that embodied the spirit of in-person walks which have been deeply missed during the pandemic.” ....

In an open letter to the community, the Chatham-Kent Ontario Health Team reiterated COVID-19 is a serious threat to our local health care system.
The local health care community is under siege and they say they realize residents are tired of hearing the message but they are also tired of delivering it.
The numbers are going up, that puts a strain on the local health care system and people must be vigilant.
