REDONDO BEACH  “Stand Up, Stand Together” was the theme of a rally held at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center in support of the AAPI community.

The April 11 event was organized by Brianna Egan, an MPH nutrition student at Loma Linda University who is working on a project to start a community garden in Redondo Beach; and Jerome Chang, an architect and business owner who recently ran for school board in Redondo Beach and is working to increase voter turnout and engagement for upcoming elections. ....

Redondo Beach to open Seaside Lagoon June 15


After being closed last summer due to the coronavirus pandemic, Redondo Beach’s popular Seaside Lagoon is set to open June 15, the same day California is expected to reopen.
“It would be a shame to not have that open,” said Mayor Bill Brand at a Redondo Beach City Council meeting this week, where the panel voted to open the park. “We can always close it if there’s another surge or if the county doesn’t allows us to open.”
The council voted to have the Seaside Lagoon, one of the South Bay’s most family-friendly swimming areas, open from June 15 to Labor Day. But COVID-19 health restrictions could but a damper on those plans, Brand said. ....

BeachLife Festival is excited to announce their return in 2021. The ‘first of its kind’ coastal event in Los Angeles is happening September 10-12, 2021 on Redondo Beach’s Watefront, after multiple postponements due to the COVID-19 pandemic. BeachLife Festival was created to celebrate the Southern California beach lifestyle, where live music is synonymous with sunshine and toes in the sand. Festival Managing Partner Allen Sanford stated: “With cautious optimism, and eyes wide open, we have begun the massive process of rebuilding BeachLife both because we are ready to get back to work, and because we feel strongly that live music & togetherness is essential to the recovery of our Community.
