New tax, government change: Here's what Beaufort Co. is considering bringing to voters

New tax, government change: Here s what Beaufort Co. is considering bringing to voters The Island Packet 2 hrs ago Kacen Bayless, The Island Packet (Hilton Head Island, S.C.) Apr. 21 Beaufort County wants to ask the county s voters to decide two major proposals this November, as well as a new transportation tax in 2022. The two issues proposed for this year a change in the county s form of government and a new tax would be placed on the Nov. 2 ballot if approved by council. They come as the County Council grapples with how to handle disagreements with, and harassment allegations against, its county auditor and as local municipal leaders lobby for a new countywide sales tax.

Wilson committed to assuring safety of Wellsville residents | News, Sports, Jobs

Wilson WELLSVILLE Ed Wilson admits that it was always his dream to serve his community as police chief, and he finally got that opportunity five years ago. Wilson is most appreciative of Mayor Nancy Murray’s decision to make him the permanent appointment to the chief position, after he served more than a year as the village’s acting police chief as her predecessor and the then-village council was embroiled in conflict. Then the police lieutenant, Wilson had been serving as the acting police chief after then-chief Joe Scarabino died in 2014. It was under Mayor Murray’s initial days in office that Wilson finally became official as Scarabino wanted. After the last council “yes” vote made it official, the crowd in council chambers erupted in applause. Media coverage of that day cites Wilson as saying, “I feel relief for the whole town. I think the whole town has had enough, and it’s time to pull together … and stop what we had going on.”

West Seattle Blog… | 35th SW memorial walk, report #2: Another death, another meeting – will major safety improvements follow, this time?

Good luck! Andres, . Conversationally, we discussed the $250k/mile figure, with a little extra for planning and unforeseen expense. Under promise, over deliver. I was suggesting compromise with a phased approach, but to SDOT it makes fiscal and practical sense to do it in one shot. I can be on board with that. . I don’t typically apply for the DoN grants myself, as I would then need to recuse myself from voting at the district level. However, I’m always happy to answer anyone’s questions about them, and provide what assistance I can. Not enough folks apply for them IMO, and the Parks dept and SDOT find great value in the applications even when unfunded. The Safe Routes grant is great, thanks for the tip.
