“I would rather stay under MECQ and then reassess again after two weeks,” Zamora told CNN Philippines in an interview.
“It’s really hard to open up the economy at this point because even if we are improving, I know we can improve further,” he added.
Zamora said he also supports the Department of Health and OCTA Research Group’s position on the extension of MECQ in Metro Manila.
The OCTA group had earlier urged the government not to lift the MECQ if the below one reproduction rate in Metro Manila is not “sustained.”

In an interview with ANC, Zamora said the city will be opening “in the next few days” its container vans which will be used as a quarantine facility.
“This will help us enhance our quarantine facilities especially now that the hospitals are really overloaded,” he said.
Zamora said the city has also been doing triaging to identify patients who should go to the hospitals and those who should be transferred to quarantine facilities.
The container vans have 26 rooms in total according to the mayor, all of which have individual toilets.
