DECATUR âThe last of three new fire stations is one step closer to reality after the Decatur City Council approved a professional services agreement for design, bidding and construction oversight Monday evening. The council approved a $254,422 bid from Virginia-based Dewberry Architects, Inc. for the work on the new Fire Station 7, which will serve the southeast side of the city. Construction continues on the new Decatur Fire Station No. 3 in the Fairview Plaza Shopping Center. The new station is just a couple blocks north of the existing station and is part of an ongoing effort to update the department s facilities. The department recently moved into a new station along West Mound Road and has plans for another station to replace the one currently located at the Decatur Airport. ....
