Delta Police Chief Neil Dubord and Mayor George Harvie tried to reassure city residents Tuesday that they are safe despite the brazen weekend shooting in a crowded mall parking lot that left a correctional officer dead.
Dubord did not provide new information about the murder of Bikramdeep Randhawa, 29, who was shot inside his car just outside the Scottsdale mall parking lot at 72nd Avenue and 120th Street.

Officials mark the reopening of the Irene Thomas Hospice under the operation of the Fraser Health authority on April 15.
On the heels of a power struggle and legal fight sparked by a decision to disallow medically assisted death at the Irene Thomas Hospice in Delta, B.C., community advocates have launched a new society that they say will embrace all end-of-life choices.
In a release announcing the Heron Hospice Society, president Chris Pettypiece said the organization will offer compassionate end-of-life programs for individuals and families experiencing grief and loss and aims to support the Irene Thomas Hospice, managed by Fraser Health Authority. ....

Horgan was responding to questions raised by the B.C. Liberals in the provincial legislature Tuesday over concerns from some provincial mayors that their communities will not have clinics.
