CORNWALL, Ontario – Glen Grant was appointed Mayor of Cornwall by the majority vote of Council on Thursday, July 8 and was sworn on Monday, July 12. With roughly 16 months left in the current term of Council, Grant is taking over for former Mayor Bernadette who resigned her position after being appointed to the Senate of Canada.
Cornwall Seaway News sat down with Grant on Tuesday, July 13 to ask him about his goals as Mayor, his relationship with neighbouring municipalities, and more.

CORNWALL, Ontario – The Coalition for Unity, Respect & Equity/Equality for All (CUREA) has offered their views on one possible candidate to fill the vacant office of Mayor of the City of Cornwall.
On Tuesday, Cornwall Mayor Bernadette Clement resigned after being named to the Senate of Canada. Under the Municipal Act, Council has 60 days to fill the vacancy either through appointment, or through a by-election.
If Council decides to appoint someone to fill the vacancy from within their own ranks one possible candidate would be Councillor Glen Grant, a long time City Councillor and current Chair of the Police Services Board.

CORNWALL, Ontario – Cornwall City Council voted to keep moving forward with the proposed new fire hall in the north end of the city, despite the fact that a promised training facility is not included in the current design.
The lack of a training facility in the current design of the proposed fire hall, which would be located at the corner of Brookdale Ave. and Tollgate Rd., was quickly leapt upon by councillors.
