Caught On Camera: Thief Snatches Woman's Purse In Store Parking Lot

WCCB Charlotte s CW May 12, 2021 MATTHEWS, N.C. A bold and brazen crime in broad daylight.  A thief snatches a purse from a woman walking to her car.  And, the crime was captured on surveillance video. It happened Monday at the Sam’s Club on Windsor Square Drive in Matthews.  The driver of a black car turned into the parking lot, as a woman pushed her buggy towards her car.  Someone in the passenger seat opened the door, jumped out of the car, grabbed the woman’s purse, jumped back in the car, and took off. The victim wasn’t able to give Matthews Police a good description of the suspects.  They say they were driving a black Honda Fit.

52-Year-Old Man Arrested In Matthews Armed Robbery Case From Last Summer May 11, 2021 MATTHEWS, N.C. The Matthews Police Department said after an extensive investigation into an armed bank robbery that happened in July 2020 a 52-year-old man has been arrested. The investigation was sparked after the robbery happened at the State Employee’s Credit Union (SECU) on July 10. The suspect entered the SECU, located on Matthews Township Parkway, and demanded money from the tellers at gunpoint. After months of investigation, police said the identified the suspect in the case as Hardin Lee Wright of Matthews. After Wright was identified in the case he was presented to the Mecklenburg County Magistrate’s Office where a warrant for his arrest was issued for the charge of Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, according to police.
