Rutledge Spring Clean Saturday
CONEWANGO The spring clean up for the Rutledge Rural Cemetery, Seager Hill, Conewango, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday. Those attending are asled to bring rakes, tarps and drinking water. All help is greatly appreciated.
Falconer Cleanup Day May 8
FALCONER The village of Falconer and the Falconer Rotary Club has announced the 25th annual village-wide cleanup day for Saturday, May 8, rain or shine, starting at 9 a.m. Those taking part are asked to report to the Falconer Fire Hall on Davis Street for assignments. Also bring rakes, gloves and any other tools for use. Trash bags will be provided. Resident will be cleaning Davis Park, Coleson Park, Village Park, Millrace Park and selected streets. Falconer residents and groups are encouraged to help with this important project. Lunch will follow cleanup. ....

Grocers Step In to Speed Up Covid-19 Vaccine Rollout

Federal and state officials are tapping regional and supermarket-based pharmacies to help speed up administration of Covid-19 vaccines amid a slower-than-planned rollout.
Rite Aid Corp., Kroger Co. , Stop & Shop Supermarket LLC and other retailers are being asked to step in and provide inoculations to front-line workers and other vulnerable people. While the timeline is weeks earlier than planned, companies say they hope to test and troubleshoot protocols before distributing vaccines to the masses.
“We’re getting calls just because of the need,” said Colleen Lindholz, president of Kroger’s health-care business. Officials from South Carolina and Georgia reached out to Kroger this week, and the company has been providing shots to health-care professionals in its stores and sending staff to long-term facilities in Alaska, West Virginia, Texas and Arkansas. ....

Kroger, Other Grocers Work to Speed Up Vaccine Efforts

Kroger Health President Colleen Lindholz told The Wall Street Journal that the grocer is getting only a small number of doses, a fraction of what it has the ability to handle.
The Kroger Co. and other grocers want to accelerate their COVID-19 vaccination efforts, but they say they are hitting bureaucratic obstacles.

The company told the Journal it has given about 4,500 doses of COVID-19 vaccinations. On average, Kroger provides roughly 200,000 doses of the flu vaccine each week during flu season. ....

Tops Friendly Markets is partnering with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to offer COVID-19 vaccines.
“Tops Friendly Markets pharmacies are proud to be among one of the first sites receiving the COVID-19 vaccine as part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) partnerships,” said Matthew Hamed, director of Pharmacy for Tops. “As members of Topco, a network of independent retailers, we are able to offer the same opportunities for our customers as the larger chains. This partnership with HHS will allow our pharmacies to provide access to those who may not otherwise have access to the vaccine.” ....
