ANTHONY – Search and rescue crews are preparing for an underwater dive as day four of the search for a missing Brigham Young University-Idaho student resumes along the Henrys Fork of the Snake River in St. Anthony. Matthew Rios, 22, of Peru got caught in the current and floated downstream after jumping off the Fun Farm Bridge with two of his friends Thursday afternoon. Rios’ friends made it safely to shore. A third friend was also there who did not get in the water, according to a mom who declined to give her name. ....

ANTHONY – Officials confirm the Brigham Young University-Idaho student who jumped off a bridge while swimming with friends near St. Anthony last Thursday is dead. A news release from the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office indicates the body of 22-year-old Matthew Rios was located around 1 p.m. Tuesday about a mile downstream from the Fun Farm Bridge. Crews have been searching the river in boats and along the riverbank since Thursday afternoon when he was first reported missing. High water levels and cold temperatures were an ongoing challenge throughout the five-day search. One of Sheriff Len Humphries biggest concerns was the safety of search and rescue personnel. ....

Fremont County Sheriff Len Humphries tells EastIdahoNews.com 22-year-old Matthew Rios from Peru and two of his friends were swimming and jumped off the Fun Farm Bridge at 699 North 2650 East in St. Anthony around 3:30 p.m. Rios’ friends made it safely to shore, but he got caught in the current and floated downstream. Authorities continue to search for him Saturday. ....
Two men were indicted by a Nueces County grand jury for capital murder after the death of a 33-year-old man in November. On Feb. 25, a grand jury indicted George Henderson, 19, and Miguel A. Rodriguez, 22, for capital murder by terror threat/other felony, court records show. The indictments came after the death of Matthew Rios, 33, in Corpus Christi. On Nov. 14, Corpus Christi police were called for a shooting in the 3400 block of Rojo Street, near Ayers Street. Officers arrived and found Rios dead. Police believed two groups of men may have met up and shots were later fired. Henderson and Rodriguez were later taken into custody in connection with the murder. The two remained in Nueces County Jail on Tuesday morning on a $1 million bond. ....
