P-J photo by Eric Tichy The Red Cross was assisting three adults displaced by a fire that broke out early Tuesday afternoon in the city of Jamestown. Fire was reported around 12:15 p.m. inside the basement of 33 Myrtle St., between Newland and Columbia avenues. Jamestown firefighters, who assisted the three evacuate, quickly doused the flames though smoke could be seen coming from several windows of the multi-unit property. Matthew Coon, Jamestown deputy fire chief, reported no serious injuries; two of the three occupants were eventually transported to UPMC Chautauqua for an evaluation. ....

Submitted photo The Jamestown Fire Department has two new pumper fire trucks to replace part of its aging fleet. During a Jamestown City Council work session meeting earlier this week, Matthew Coon, Jamestown Fire Department deputy chief, said the two new pumper fire trucks the city ordered at the start of 2020 were safely delivered by department officials from Meyersdale, Pa., last week. He said one of the trucks is stationed at City Hall and the other is located at Station 4 along Allen Street. He added that it will take a couple months for department personnel to equip the new pumper fire trucks. The new trucks will replace vehicles that are both more than 20 years old. ....
