UMass hockey captain oops, former captain Jake Gaudet gave Buckland’s Chris Pettengill a shout-out this week during an interview on NC Squared Sports, a podcast from Saskatchewan. Gaudet visited Pettengill’s archery store in Buckland last fall, they struck up a friendship and went bow hunting. “It was the best fall to be a deer in Western Mass. with me out there,” joked Gaudet. An avowed fisherman and Ottawa native, Gaudet is a self-described farm boy who was “never a five-star kid growing up.” Last summer he was driving north of Ottawa when he got a call from coach Greg Carvel. “It was either really good news or bad news,” he remembered thinking. “He told me I was captain.” ....
