The issue went to press at a time when restaurants have, for just shy of one year, been faced with a pandemic and the necessary safety rules that have limited their customers. So, this year, we have a new category to join our traditional bests: Best Pandemic Dining. Our readers have praised Trio’s Restaurant and The Hive in Bentonville for keeping diners safely spaced. They’ve toasted Flyway Brewing and Superior Bathhouse Brewery in Hot Springs for their beer-to-go service. (A feature on Flyway, which also won Most Innovative, illustrates how it kept aloft.) Not so much because those kinds of food posts are obnoxious, but because not every meal can be âthe best.â Thatâs when I decided to start ranking my own meals. Thatâs what I do â rank food, rather than review it. At the end of every month, I publish how my meals that month ranked against each other. But I see an opportunity.” That “opportunity” was to reopen Farmer’s Table Cafe, adjacent to Rum Brook Market at Exit 13 off Interstate 89 in Grantham, a couple weeks ago. The restaurant had been closed since March when previous owner Sara Hastings shut it down during the first wave of the pandemic. White, a former Dartmouth-Hitchcock IT specialist whose rock band often played gigs at the cafe, purchased it from Hastings “name, decor, the whole works” and brought back many of the restaurant’s kitchen crew and front house staff, along with “95% of the menu.” ....
