LETTERS: Amend proposed ordinance to prioritize moderately priced ADUs The Barnstable Patriot The creation of moderately priced ADUs is critical to Barnstable s ability to accommodate the housing needs of all our residents so that we remain a vital, responsive, inclusive community. Meghan Mott’s recent letter in support of Accessory Dwelling Units hit the nail on the head. As someone who has long been in favor of Accessory Dwelling Units as a means for addressing our year-round rental housing availability and affordability crisis, I’d like to add my two cents. I am in support of the town’s efforts to modify the current ADU ordinance. However, I offer the following amendments so that the ordinance solves the problem it was intended to solve which is: Add moderately priced rental units to the housing stock to meet the needs of smaller households and make housing units available to moderate income households who might otherwise have difficulty finding housing. The Sterling Heights Historical Commission wants the city’s youth to do their part to help document for the history books how COVID-19 affected 2020. The city wants kids and teens ages 18 and younger to create artwork and essays that depict COVID-19 and its impact on current events in a way that will be historically relevant to the future and posterity. Organizers want to gather these works of art and writing as part of a “History Today: The Children of COVID-19” project. ....
