DETROIT – Man oh man, woman oh woman (as Chuck Gaidica used to say), those past two days were spectacular, eh? But now it’s prime time…the weekend…and I think we’ll do okay today.
We’ll get some sunshine this morning, then see additional cloud cover develop and move in this afternoon. Highs should reach the low 70s (22 degrees Celsius)…but temps will go higher if we hang on to that sunshine later into the afternoon.
Wind will be light, too, and blow from the south at only 4 to 8 mph…that means that those of us immediately north and near the big east side lakes will be cooler. ....

DETROIT – It’s Melanoma Monday, a day set aside each year to help raise awareness about the risk of melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer.
Experts said many people skipped skin cancer checks in the past year because of the coronavirus pandemic. One mother-to-be is grateful that she sought help when she did.
Caitlin Jones didn’t think the mole on the top of her head could be cancerous, especially since she had it biopsied four years earlier. Her husband said he knew something didn’t look right. ....

In October 2020, SciBase was granted a Category III CPT (CPT III) code from the American Medical Association (AMA) for the Nevisense melanoma detection test. This was the first step in the process to receive reimbursement coverage in the U.S.
The application submission for Medicare coverage in Florida marks an important step in the reimbursement process for SciBase. Researchers find new treatment for common uterine cancer
MIRAMAR, Fla. – Researchers have uncovered a new treatment approach for the most common form of uterine cancer in the United States.
Dr. Jacob Tangir, co-founder of the Center For Gynecologic Oncology, said a new study has found that in early-stage and pre-cancerous disease, a progesterone releasing IUD was just as effective as birth control pills at counteracting the high estrogen levels associated with endometrial cancer.
“The pills are very poorly tolerated and often times people didn’t take it, so that didn’t resolve the problem,” he said. “Now there’s an IUD that’s been around for decades that people use to prevent pregnancy that basically releases a small amount of progesterone inside the uterus and that has been shown to work as well as the pills but its much better tolerated.” ....
