Cooper County starting to see uptick in COVID-19 cases Boonville Daily News Cooper County Public Health Center Director Melanie Hutton said Cooper County is starting to experience an increase of Covid-19 cases, an increase of 150% over the past week. Hutton said signs and symptoms include: headache, runny nose, sore throat (Fever and cough are less common), Loss of smell/taste were not experienced by many. Most people think they do NOT have Covid-19 and are infecting others and not seeking medical care or testing. MISSOURI - The CDC Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices will meet Wednesday to advise the CDC director on recommending use of the Pfizer vaccine for children between the ages of 12 and 15. Some mid-Missouri health departments and centers are preparing clinics to serve this new eligible community, but other said they don t and won t have the supplies to distribute the Pfizer vaccine to this age group. KOMU 8 News reached out to eight mid-Missouri county health departments to see if the vaccine will be available to this age group. Boonville Daily News Cooper County Public Health Center Director Melanie Hutton said as more and more vaccines become available, the county will see more clinics in small rural areas for people in need. Since the first shot of Pfizer was administered back on January 20, Hutton said the clinic has administered 7,969 does of which 150 have been Moderna and the rest Pfizer. Hutton, however, noted that cases are way down since the clinic started administering shots.
