Acadia Senior College opens annual art exhibit MOUNT DESERT The 12th annual Acadia Senior College Art Show is on display in the Mellon Room at the Northeast Harbor Library through May 29. This year’s theme is “Go Lightly,” which members have creatively interpreted in many ways. Over 25 talented artists are showcased in the exhibit that features a variety of media including watercolor and oil paintings, mixed media, wood carvings, photographs and fiber art. The exhibit can be viewed during library hours Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., except during times when the Mellon Room is booked for private use. If so, the Northeast Harbor Library can help. Throughout the month of March, the library is featuring an exhibit in the Mellon Room titled Local Fiber. Arts Glances Elementary school art show NORTHEAST HARBOR ─ Like a lot of things, the K-8 Mount Desert Elementary School art show is a little bit different this year. One of the best ways to understand the human experience is to look at the artwork. Students at MDES took some time during their virtual art classes back in January to talk about the moment we are currently living in. Students were asked to take images of the world around them to show future generations what it was like to be alive in 2020 and 2021. Students were assigned photography homework and took local photography field trips. This art show is a selection of that work. ....
