Â PAWLET â Daniel Banyai has secured legal counsel and is appealing the Environmental Court ruling that he shut down the Slate Ridge shooting facility and deconstruct all the work he has put into it. On May 7, Pawlet town attorney Merrill Bent said that Banyai had retained attorney Cindy Hill and had appealed the Environmental Court ruling against him. Reached by phone, Hill confirmed that Banyai had retained her services to handle the appeal. Hill said they had filed the timely notice of appeal and that is all that has happened on the case. ....

PAWLET â Daniel Banyai has been ordered to pay fines of $46,603.03 to the town of Pawlet and hire a surveyor to complete a site plan of his Slate Ridge property and then demolish all buildings that were not authorized with a valid zoning permit. The judgment order was issued for the property at 541 Briar Hill Road and handed down by Superior Court Judge Thomas Durkin. The order completes the Environmental Court action, which began in 2019. Pawlet attorney Merrill Bent said the town will file the order as a lien on the property. ....
