By Stephanie Piro ROCHESTER – It’s 40 weeks since we began this column. We started the column to share what we were doing for the community during the initial stay-at-home orders. We have been offering our patrons a variety of ways to enjoy library services while at home ever since, such as requesting items through our popular RPL-To-Go or enjoying our streaming options and our Children’s Room has been offering various do-at-home projects, recommending books and keeping our youngest patrons engaged with the library. Monday, Feb. 1 through Sunday, Feb. 7 Paper Plane Challenge for Grades 4 – 8. The Wilton Library Robotics Team, Singularity Technology, has planned a fun, educational challenge for students in grades 4 to 8. Use your creativity and engineering ingenuity to create a Paper Plane from ordinary materials you can find around your house. Mill St. Anyone age 5 and older, symptomatic and asymptomatic, can receive the free test. Register ahead of time online at https://register.covidconnect.wi.gov or at the testing site. Additional testing dates will be Feb. 5, Feb. 19 and March 5 at the same time and location. Curbside Services The Library will continue to offer contact-free pickup, homebound delivery, virtual programming, and telephone services during open hours. Notary public service, photocopying, faxing, and printing will be available by appointment only, via curbside service. Check the library’s website and social media accounts for details and to arrange pick-up. Patrons are able to place holds themselves online or call the Library. Holds are available throughout the library system. Five Town Libraries Five local libraries have gotten together to present shared programming within the communities. On January 25 the libraries will be sponsoring Meditate with Amy. Looking for peace and calm in the new year? Join the Five-Town Libraries for a 45-minute meditation session with Amy Rutledge, certified as a Mindful Meditation Teacher at the Nalanda Institute for Contemplative Science in Manhattan.
