Several of these signs are out along Route 6A in Brewster, whose select board and finance committee were scheduled to host a summit meeting Monday night with members of the regional school committee, high school building committee, and Nauset administration.

ORLEANS Confusing and conflicting information from both sides of the debate over the proposed renovation and expansion of Nauset Regional High School is roiling the waters in the four district towns.
What appeared to be a final word (“No”) on further funding extensions from the Massachusetts State Building Authority was actually much more nuanced. Claims that approving the project at town meetings would require a two-thirds margin turn out be wrong.

ORLEANS Seventy-five years ago, Jack and Laura Johnson of Truro cooked up an idea for a weekly newspaper. Under its second owner, Malcolm Hobbs, The Cape Codder built a headquarters at 5 Namskaket Rd. in with ample space for a printery, including a giant ink tank. The building would shake as a press operator announced each run: “Caaaaape Cod-uh!”
The press is long gone, stilled and sold by an off-Cape corporation that came to own the paper. Today, the Codder is printed in Auburn, near Worcester, the old printery converted to a fitness and wellness center.
ORLEANS In October, voters rescinded a general bylaw prohibiting marijuana establishments and passed a zoning bylaw allowing the establishment of them.
Since then, Town Administrator John Kelly has received six letters of interest from companies willing to put down roots in town.
The Select Board is trying to catch up with the interest by crafting a host community agreement and setting criteria for evaluating the applications it receives.
The Select Board last week reviewed a draft host community agreement and came up with questions they’d like town counsel to answer before settling on wording.
The agreement is a contract between the town and the marijuana establishment that stipulates conditions an establishment must meet in order to do business in town. An agreement must be signed before the state Cannabis Control Commission will issue a provisional license to an applicant to operate as a marijuana establishment.
