Since then, Town Administrator John Kelly has received six letters of interest from companies willing to put down roots in town.
The Select Board is trying to catch up with the interest by crafting a host community agreement and setting criteria for evaluating the applications it receives.
The Select Board last week reviewed a draft host community agreement and came up with questions they’d like town counsel to answer before settling on wording.
The agreement is a contract between the town and the marijuana establishment that stipulates conditions an establishment must meet in order to do business in town. An agreement must be signed before the state Cannabis Control Commission will issue a provisional license to an applicant to operate as a marijuana establishment.
