Efforts to preserve, honor Macedonia African Methodist Church Cemetery continue

JOHNS CREEK, Ga. â For years, the Macedonia African Methodist Church Cemetery has been used as a dumping ground for lawn debris and garbage.
Tucked behind homes in the St. Ives neighborhood and up a gravel drive off Medlock Bridge Road, many are unaware of its existence at all.
Kirk Canaday first learned of the cemetery in 2017 when residents were campaigning to fight construction of billboards in Johns Creek. He has been dedicated to the project ever since.
âItâs one of those things, something needs to be done, and it wasnât being done,â Canaday said.
The cemetery lies just behind homes in the St. Ives neighborhood. Lawn debris and other trash regularly shows up on the grounds.SYDNEY DANGREMOND/APPEN MEDIA ....

Man reports SUV driver pointed gun in dispute

JOHNS CREEK, Ga. â Police responded to Medlock Bridge Road late April 7 on a report of a road rage dispute. The caller said he was driving near the Avalon shopping mall and may have cut off an SUV driven by a man in his 20s. He told officers the suspect began waving his middle finger at him and pulled up next to him at the intersection of Medlock Bridge and State Bridge Road. The suspect pulled out what appeared to be a Glock pistol and pointed it at the victim, according to police.
The victim said he sped away toward Gwinnett County and pulled into a Whole Foods parking lot where he called 911. He gave officers the tag number of the suspectâs SUV. Investigators attempted to make contact with its registered owner, but they were unsuccessful, police indicated. ....
