JACKSON, Miss. (WDAM) - In a season of firsts, the Laurel girls basketball team reached the ultimate milestone on Friday night.
The Lady Tornadoes survived Holmes County Central 39-36 at the “Big House” in Jackson to claim the program’s first state championship.
Laurel jumped out to a 37-30 lead in the fourth quarter before the Lady Jaguars stormed back to make it a one point game with less than a minute to play. ....

JACKSON, Miss. (WDAM) - Since Sherri Cooley joined the Lady Tornadoes two years ago, the girls basketball program has done nothing but reach new heights.
After leading Laurel to its first semifinal appearance in 2020, “Cooley & the Gang” are headed to the school’s first state championship.
The Lady Tornadoes overwhelmed Neshoba Central 65-52 on Tuesday to advance to Friday’s class 5A state title. Laurel battles Holmes County Central at 5 p.m.
“I think it’s so exciting,” Cooley said. “The community, they’re all so excited about girls basketball right now. In the past, it was normally boys basketball. So what we’re doing, we’re trying to bring the girls basketball program up to the level of the boys and I think we’re doi ....

LAWTON, Okla. (TNN) - A Lawton woman is trying to make the school year a little brighter for Lawton Public Schools seniors with an Adopt A Senior 2021 Facebook group.
When you look back on your senior year of high school, you may think of Homecoming, prom and sporting events but the Class of 2021′s memories will be a little different due to the pandemic.
Nicole Bucher is a mother of a MacArthur High School senior. She decided to create a Facebook group - Adopt A Lawton Public Schools Senior 2021 - to support local students. ....

North Texans Show Love to Salt Lake City Pastry Shop


Bob’s granddaughter, MacKenzie Thomas, who now lives in San Antonio, has a childhood friend, Jamie Crable, who lives here in North Texas.
Jamie heard about Al and Bob’s story on Instagram, and turns out, that Instagram post was shared by Brandi Merritt, a North Texas social media influencer who lives in Wylie.  
North Texans, Jamie and Brandi are close friends.
“So when I saw this story, I reached out to my friend and said, hey, I know I’m not local to the Salt Lake City area, which is where Carol’s Bakery shop is, but I said, I would still love to share it, and any of my followers in that area, I would love for them to go support it, said Brandi Merritt who has over 104,000 followers on Instagram. “He said absolutely, please share.
