Five Buckeye Divers Qualify for NCAA Championships

Share COLUMBUS, Ohio – Six Ohio State University divers have qualified for the NCAA swimming and diving championships out of Zone C qualifying, which took place over the last three days at the Lancaster Aquatic Center in Lexington, Ky., and on the campus of the University of Kentucky. This morning and afternoon the competition included the women’s platform and the men’s 1-meter springboard. Ciara McGing, a freshman, qualified for her first NCAA championships by placing fourth on the platform event with a five-dive score of 520.55. Lexie Barker was 15th with 444.80 points. Senior Joey Canova punched his ticket to NCAAs by placing third on the 1-meter today with a score of 703.05. Jacob Fielding (fourth with 674.10 points), Jacob Siler (fifth with 669.40 points) and Lyle Yost (eighth with 628.35 points) also competed today.

Women Swimmers & All Divers at Big Ten Championships

Ohio State Coaches Bill Dorenkott is in his 13th year at Ohio State and his fourth year as director of men’s and women’s swimming and diving. His 2019-20 women’s team won the Big Ten championship while the men were runner-up. Dorenkott was named the Big Ten women’s swimming coach of the year, an honor he also won in 2005 while at Penn State. Dorenkott spent 10 seasons as head coach of the Penn State women’s program led them to three Big Ten championships: 2002, 2005 and 2006. He has coached his swimmers to 52 individual Big Ten championships. Justin Sochor is in his eighth season as Ohio State’s diving coach. He was the 2016 and 2020 Big Ten men’s diving coach of the year and his divers have won three individual Big Ten titles.

The Toronto-based investment firm bought the association last Spring. Since then, they have gone on to announce a new brand, grouping two highly known and popular golf clubs, The Pulpit and The Paintbrush, into one. The goal, stated by the firm, was to newly represent the association rather than make a significant change.  “The Pulpit Club isn’t just a new name it represents a distinctly fresh approach to the private golf club market,” said president Mackenzie Crawford in a statement. “The partners in Longridge were members of the DPGA when we acquired it and we had a vision for the club and surrounding area. Great golf is at its core, but The Pulpit Club is about offering outdoor opportunities 12
