BELFAST The Waldo County Sheriff’s Department reported two traffic citations between July 4-15. Of the two citations, one was issued for speeding and the other citation was issued for failure to obey a red light. In addition to the two traffic citations, the following activity was reported. An arrest or summons does not constitute a conviction, and those charged are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles aged 17-or-younger are not named. July 4 Mark R. White, 31, of Unity, was issued summonses for operating without a license and failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle on Mount View Road in Thorndike. ....

Orrington Man Dies in Jackson Single-Vehicle Crash An Orrington man is dead and a Belfast man injured after a single-vehicle crash in Jackson over the holiday weekend. The accident happened at approximately 3:30 Saturday afternoon, on Moosehead Trail in Jackson. State Police say a Pontiac Grand Am, driven by 60-year-old Douglas Bryant of Orrington, was traveling south when it went off the road, striking a culvert, and then a large tree. Douglas Bryant died as a result of the crash. His passenger, 45-year-old Troy Bryant of Belfast, was transported to Waldo County General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police say it appears intoxicants may have been a contributing factor to the accident. The investigation into the crash is ongoing. ....
Dec. 1 Sergeant Cody Laite responded to the scene of a single-vehicle accident on Moosehead Trail in Jackson, where an operator failed to navigate a sweeping curve to the right. The vehicle, a 2017 Dodge, went off the roadway to the left, struck a guardrail, and came to rest in a small marsh, according to the accident report. The operator, Michael Bickford, 25, of Jackson, was charged with operating under the influence and the vehicle was towed from the scene. Dec. 4 William S. Pendergast, 41, of Northport, was arrested for violation of bail conditions on Atlantic Highway in Northport. Dec. 6 Juliana Tibbetts, 24, of Norridgewock, was issued a summons for domestic violence assault on North Main Street in Winterport. ....
