It s almost time for baby turtle hatchlings to break out of their eggs and wiggle their way to the ocean, and Sunshine Coast Council is calling on the public to help clear the way.
Registrations have opened for the eighth annual Clean up for the Hatchlings event, at 17 locations from Coolum to Caloundra next Saturday.
Volunteers are invited to register and meet at the beach of their choice at 6am to pick up litter ready for the hatchlings.
All volunteers are invited to come together to enjoy a free barbecue at Buddina s La Balsa Park from 8am when there will be a prize draw, activities, and weighing of collected debris. ....

Volunteers are invited to register and meet at the beach of their choice at 6am to pick up litter and clean up the beach ready for the hatchlings.
From 8am at La Balsa Park, Buddina, all volunteers will come together to enjoy a free barbecue, participate in a prize draw and other fun activities, and most importantly, to weigh and sort the collected debris. ....

We ve made our way around it with FaceTime and other technology that we re able to use these days… and we ve been doing a really good job of staying on top of it, said Smith, who honed his game as a junior on the Invincibles Sunshine Coast Tour.
In fact, Smith said his celebrated short game was as good as it has ever been.
I ve putted really well. I feel as though if I can get my longer stuff, and especially my irons into a good spot, I ll be able to compete every week.
So, I m just working on that with Fieldy… not trying to overdo it, just little steps. Hopefully it all falls into place very soon. ....

An Australian family called for help this week after a venomous red-bellied black snake was found lurking under sliding doors in their home.
Reptile relocation expert Stuart McKenzie, of Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers 24/7, responded to the call. He released footage of the snake to his Facebook account on Tuesday showing how it was able to slither under an entrance to the property.
You can see him in there just hiding, McKenzie can be heard saying in the clip, taken from the home in the Queensland suburb of Wurtulla in front of the alarmed residents. Just shows how incredible they are fitting into small areas, he added. ....
