Out of the past July 21, 1896 Riverside Park at Quincy has virtually changed hands for the controlling interest in the resort has been taken up by Robert Young, wholesale liquor dealer of Columbus, formerly of Belle Center. Last week, Young purchased for $2,500 from Mr. Allinger, the ground on which the park stands, which had been leased by the former company for five years. He also purchased the stock of 14 Quincy stockholders, paying about par for it. He did not acquire the 11 shares held by Sidney parties. - The firm of Knox and Robinson, owners of the flour mill two miles east of Sidney, have dissolved partnership, T.L. Robinson retiring. The business will hereafter be conducted by Gregg Knoxx. ....

It was 60 years ago that nighttime racing finally came to the Province of Ontario. On the evening of May 17, 1961 with a post time of 8:00 p.m., it all happened at Western Fair Raceway in London, Ontario. The Akeley City Council accepted the resignation of Public Works Supervisor Kelly Vanden Eykel, effective Jan. 25, after nine years of service. They set a second special meeting for 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2 to further explore options that were brought up at their Jan. 29 special meeting “I have taken great pride in the work I have performed competently for the city,” Vanden Eykel said in his resignation letter. “I wish to walk away with my dignity and my head held high. I thank you for the time I had here, for the knowledge I have gained, the friendships I have made, and the growth I have found professionally.” ....
