(NewsDakota.com) – A month ago, the Valley City Commission approved of hiring the engineering firms of KLJ and Moore for engineering and planning services under a three-year agreement. Submitted Photo The Minot Public School Foundation and its community partners put on the 12 Days of Giveaways for Minot Public Schools Teachers this holiday season “to boost our teachers’ spirits this holiday season while also saying thank you for giving our students a fun and safe learning environment during the global pandemic,” said Foundation Executive Director Danielle Rued in an email. Teachers could win new gifts such as gift cards or money to purchase needed items for their classrooms during each day of the first 12 days of December. Rued said the foundation launched the daily information on its social media accounts and got tremendous turnout from community partners First Western Bank & Trust, Nathan Stremick of Signal Realty, Brokers 12 Inc., North Hill Bowl, API Bakken Chapter, Qdoba, and Moore Engineering Inc. ....
In a 3 to 2 vote, the commission approved of a three-year agreement with KLJ and Moore Engineering for engineering and planning services starting next year. Commissioners Bishop and Erickson voted against the motion on Tuesday, December 15th. City Attorney Carl Martineck said the reason the City went through the Qualifications process for selecting an engineer was so that any work assigned to the contracted City Engineer for an eligible project would qualify for cost-share funds from the State Water Commission. The three-year term is the maximum allowed per State Water Commission policy before the City would be required to go through another selection process for a contracted City Engineer. ....

The Hackensack City Council meeting Dec. 7 found councilor Janis Pfarr filling in for outgoing mayor Larry Ciha, who was ill and unable to attend. Pfarr, who serves as assistant mayor, was also at her last council meeting, as she did not run for re-election. With councilor Bill Kennedy elected as mayor Nov. 3 and with two years left in his council term, there will be a vacant seat on the council as of Jan. 1, 2021. The council decided to put out a call for city residents interested in the vacancy. Eligible candidates should contact the city by Dec. 31. All candidates will be presented to the council at the Jan. 4 meeting. ....
