ELIZABETHTON â Saturdayâs Covered Bridge Jams concert will feature the group From the Edge. Elizabethton Recreation Manager David Nanney said âwe are very excited to have this awesome local group with us this Saturday night.â From the Edge is a new rock ânâ roll cover band with members from East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia. The band is influenced by Journey, Fleetwood Mac, Prince, â80s hair bands, Eagles, Pretenders, Bryan Adams and more of the preferred â80s music. The band provides an eclectic mix of Southern rock and country. âCome on down to the Covered Bridge Park on Saturday night at 7. Bring you lawn chair and sit back and enjoy a fantastic free concert,â Nanney said. ....
ELIZABETHTON â The weekly free concerts at the Covered Bridge Park on the banks of the Doe River in downtown Elizabethton will continue on Saturday, July 24, when the band Retroville takes the stage at 7 p.m. âWe are expecting a large crowd to come out and enjoy this energetic group,â David Nanney, Elizabethton Parks and Recreation Department recreation manager, said. Retroville formed in 2004 and has been going strong ever since. One of the unique things about the band is that it covers so many different musical styles. At most performances, they will cover material from the 1950s to the 1990s. The bandâs main focus is the 1970s and 1980s. ....
ELIZABETHTON â Volunteers from two East Tennessee churches helped make a Friends of the Park Community Service Day a success for the Elizabethton Parks and Recreation Department. The volunteers came from Grace Baptist Church of Elizabethton and a church youth group from the First Baptist Church of Gatlinburg. The two groups completed projects at Elizabethton City Hall and the Covered Bridge Park. This latest round of service projects focused on First Baptist of Gatlinburg working on the landscaping of City Hall, while Grace Baptist worked on painting the fencing of the Covered Bridge Park and planting bushes at the Covered Bridge Stage. ....

ELIZABETHTON â The patriotic citizens of Carter County turned out in large numbers in downtown Elizabethton to celebrate Independence Day on Saturday. The largest crowds gathered at the Covered Bridge Park for the Independence Day Celebration put on by the Elizabethton Parks and Recreation Department, but there were also people attending the Bonnie Kate Theatre for one of the four presentations of the Jonesborough Repertory Theatreâs â1940s USO Show,â and also the weekly cruise-in hosted by the Carter County Car Club. The celebration culminated with a 20-minute fireworks show fired from a new location this year, the Elk Avenue Bridge. Prior to that, the large audience at the Covered Bridge Park was treated to a free concert by theSpank, the ultimate â80s party band. ....
